Other people post music, so I felt like I should do it to

こんばんわ!

This was the first Vocaloid song that I've listened to. It was before I knew what Vocaloids were.
I thought Len was a girl
Don't judge me. T~T

Anyway, I was introduced to Vocaloids four years go after stumbling upon this song on the Internet. I was not really interested in Vocaloids (or anime and Japanese culture yet), but I was so enamored by this song that I gave it a shot.

I then learned that Len was a girl, there were more Vocaloids, and that Vocaloids... weren't real people. The last fact was a bit difficult for me to wrap my head around, but after a while I grew to like the idea. I mean that's like... so futuristic and cool, right???

That and I liked the idea that Vocaloids could be anything we wanted them to be, and they changed character after each song (which was kinda weird for Len and Rin... are they twins, mirror images, what???). I also liked how the Vocaloids weren't the real artists themselves: those using the Vocaloid program were.

Anyway, that summer I got hooked on anime too. I also picked up drawing, which I really need to get to again. I kinda haven't been doing many of my normal hobbies since I got here, mostly because I'm still getting adjusted to... life.

Oh yeah, I have one more thing I want to link: I'm into EDM a lot (rhythm gaming... yeah...), so I'm gonna link a song for that too. I found this song on an alternate engine on FFR, and it's quite literally some of the best dubstep that I've listened to in a while.

I gotta get back to studying for midterms. しつれいします!

I feel like explaining what I play sometimes before class.

So yeah, I don't eat lunch from 11:50-12:30 because I'm a freshman. I can't get to and from a place that quickly!!! so I eat after Japanese class! I usually have some free time left over if I don't have a test/quiz coming up (and if I I don't forget to do a section of Japanese homework... which has happened... more than once orz).

So I play a game called Flash Flash Revolution!

Simply put, it's just like Dance Dance Revolution, but you use a keyboard instead of a dancepad! It's tons of fun! Really!

I got into rhythm gaming nearly five years ago now , though I've been playing on-and-off! I've had my account on FFR for almost four years. I first played another game called Whirled Beat (which is dead now... RIP), switched to Stepmania (a game which is just like FFR but you download the songs you play) briefly to teach myself how to play with two hands instead of one, then randomly stumbled upon FFR when failing at finding SM song packs...
then dropped SM altogether because FFR is love FFR is life...

I used to strictly play for fun, not caring about what my scores were and stuff, but around mid 2012 I discovered that there were these things called TOURNAMENTS. AND THEN I JOINED ONE.
And then I joined the world of not-so-casual FFR. Which meant I had to learn things like terminology (still not that good at this honestly), how to train, how actually get... decent scores...

Anyway, the nice thing (to me anyway) about how FFR tournaments are structured is that people are divided into seven divisions based on skill, D1(lowest)-D7(highest), so I got to compete only with people in my skill-range! Which was awesome!
I boosted past divisions pretty quickly though, mostly because of the skill I've gained before playing competitively. A lot of what I had to learn was how to score well on easier songs since I had already been training myself for speed and stamina.
Right now I'm in D6, and I've been here for about a year!

I'm pretty excited right now because an official tournament's going on. It's an eight-round elimination tournament with each round lasting a week (so yeah, two months, but the vast majority of people won't make it that far, like me!) The first round is drawing to a close at midnight, and round two's about to start. I'm kinda afraid of my division's song after looking at the preview because *yikes*, but apparently it's supposed to be fun, so fingers crossed!

Actually, I wasn't even expecting to play in the tournament until the night it started. Once I started college I didn't really play FFR much except to prevent becoming rusty (which still happened =[), but after looking at how excited people in the community were for the tournament I couldn't not play.

I dunno if anyone actually reads this or cares, but if you have any questions about it, feel free to ask me about it! I'm actually restraining my enthusiasm about the game/community right now!

I would embed a video here too to show finger smashing, but I'm not too keen on taking those. I actually have to get to doing that soon...

Hm, so yeah. That's about all the rambling I have now. Uh, しつれいします
